Setting up Vonage
I had a good experience setting up vonage in two different cities in india and from my experience i can tell you a lot of things which will help you if you are trying hard to set it up or planning for it. Well not sure whats happening with the company and not sure if its going to survive the heat it is getting from verizon, but so far its alive, I think its a great utility and you should definitely give it a shot.
If you have not already ordered your router from vonage, I would recommend ordering Motorola VT2442 (which came for free the last time i ordered it) or any other popular router from the vonage website. Both the places in india that i installed vonage had a DSL connection (asynchronous) from BSNL (dataone).
In the next part of the article i will explain how to install vonage (or any other voip /internet based telephony system) in your home town in india or for that matter any other place. I will also explain the basics of how the vonage system works so that you can install it wherever you want.
